A chronicle of the life and times of Billy, Kate, and Maryn Smith (and Graycie the Italian Greyhound). We wanted a good way to share with family and friends as we undertake our newest adventure - moving to far-away Indiana for Billy to go to school at the University of Notre Dame. "But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hand; [...] Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you." - Psalm 31:14-15,19

Two Months Old
Maryn is two months old! She is getting so big. We went to the pediatrician for a check up yesterday. She is 10.8 lbs (36th percentile) and 24 in long (90th percentile). Could we possibly have a tall child?! Time will tell, lol. She is healthy and happy, eating and sleeping well. When she turned 8 weeks old, we started laying her down in her bed to fall asleep on her own at naptime and bedtime. It really only took her 2 or 3 days to figure it out; we hold her and sing her a song, lay her down while she is still awake, and now she falls asleep within 5 minutes with very minimal crying. I still enjoy rocking her to sleep at least once every day, though. She is also sleeping a lot longer at night. We still usually have a midnight feeding around 4am, but that's just because I put her down for bed at around 9 or 10pm, so she is sleeping for 6-7 hour stretches. In other news, she is getting much better about holding up her head, although tummy time still isn't her favorite activity. But she LOVES her jungle gym (see video in previous post). And she loves to talk; she has really found her voice! She is just full of smiles, cuddles, and fun. She also does great in the church nursery; she loves watching the bigger kids play. Finally, Billy has taught her to take a bottle - this was a struggle in the beginning, but they have figured it out together. This is a relief for me, since I'll have to pump breast milk for her when I go back to work part time (more on that later). All in all, Maryn is doing fantastic - what a wonderful 2 months we have shared!
